Hours Of Work Pay Off

January 15, 2001 17:16: A TEENAGERS dreams are about to come true when he appears on the BBCs Star in the Making show this month.

Martyn Snow, of Glen View Road, Bromley, beat off stiff competition from hundreds of other would-be superstars to join four other contestants on the show.

It took hours of queuing, performing and waiting at the Mermaid Theatre, London, in September, before he found out he had been chosen.

The 14-year-old pupil from Langley Park Boys school, will sing an up-tempo boy band number on the show, a departure from the lad who enjoys singing ballads.

He has been making regular trips to London to rehearse, including a visit to Sonys studios to record the backing track for the show with a full orchestra.

He also enjoyed mingling with TV personalities Barbara Windsor and Jane MacDonald.

His mother, Wendy, said: "We are all extremely proud of him. The family is delighted to see him on television.

"The studio rehearsals were great fun and everyone connected with the show has been very helpful. Martin hopes his appearance on the show will pave the way to a career in the music business.

"He has been performing since the age of six when he won a talent competition at a holiday camp."
